GREENER is an initiative of the ICONN project, and draws together leading scientists, innovators, industrialists and decision makers from all over the world to discuss and share state-of-the-art research, innovation and practice in the development and deployment of present and future renewable offshore energy machines and devices.

Call for Contributions

Trinity Campus

Papers, and original research results. presented at the Greener conference will be published in a special issue of the peer reviewed, open access journal, Materials Research Proceedings (http://www.mrforum.com/mrp/).

The conference will span two days, including keynotes, plenary talks and technical presentations, with dedicated and relevant industry themes addressing market concerns and outlooks. Future leaders and innovators are particularly welcome and will be supported and recognised through dedicated student and emergent technologies sessions. Select papers and technology contributions accepted for presentation at the Conference will be published in a special issue of the Key Engineering Materials journal. Attendance at the event will be free and, to help maximise benefit and impact for attendees, pre-registration will be essential.

Attending from Outside of Ireland

If you require a visa to attend Greener19, you may request a confirmation of registration document. This is only issued after you have registered for the conference and paid the conference registration fee. If you require a confirmation of registration document please email your request to the organisers and include your complete name, passport number, mailing address and any other details your country of residence requires for your visa application. Student Bursaries

Students who submit papers, independently or jointly with their supervisor, are eligible to be considered for bursaries to support their attendance and presentation at the Greener Conference. Candidates for the bursaries should send a short Email to the organisers after submitting their paper. The submission should include details on their research topic and a short, 150 word, statement of how attendance at the conference will help advance their research and professional careers. Student attendees are also invited to attend and participate in the MSCA EID ICONN Complementary Training activities that will be scheduled during and after the conference.

Complementary Training

The third event in the ICONN complementary training series is being scheduled to run alongside the Greener 2019 conference. There will be a preliminary introduction session on the morning of the first day of the Conference. Supported concept development and refinement will progress during the conference. After the conference has concluded (Friday 27th), there will be a full day training focusing on IPR, entrepreneurship and business development associated with the developed concepts. Registered student attendees at the conference are invited to attend this free event (pre-registration essential by Email to organisers) Business development (includes IRP, entrepreneurship): Workshop 3 addresses issues on intellectual property (IPR), entrepreneurship and business development. This course will be aimed at getting the students to think about how novel ideas can be commercialised, with special examples drawn from three areas: wind energy, sensors, data driven innovations. It will involve a staged series of exercises which move from vision and idea to definition of work to be done; through protecting intellectual property, raising finance, marketing and sales. The whole series engages the researchers by getting them to work in teams and develop a business-plan guided by the training team. They use case studies delivered by entrepreneurs and venture capitalists. Business concepts are presented to a panel of three judges (including one venture capitalist), followed by a brainstorming session to review the skill-set acquired and it application. All students who register for the conference can participate in this Training event. Please contact the organisers for more information and to signal your interest.

Trinity College Dublin will host an International Workshop on “Aerodynamics and Control of Wind Farms” on Thursday 26 th September 2019. This workshop will take place during the GREENER 2019: Floating Offshore Energy Devices conference at Trinity College Dublin. The workshop aims to assess the current state-of-the-art in the fields of wind farm aerodynamics, non-linear hydrodynamics and control with a particular emphasis on model predictive control. The workshop will discuss and identify key and emerging breakthroughs and challenges in research and development that are critical and unique in the area of wind farms. The workshop is also intended to promote communication exchange and cross- fertilization between multiple disciplines.

Eminent speakers at this event will include: - Professor Søren Nielsen, Aalborg University, Denmark - Professor Biswajit Basu, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland - Dr Andrea Staino, Alstom To attend this free workshop please indicate your interest during registration for GREENER.
